Welcome to Blogging for a Better Life! I’m AeKyung Yoo — a Korean American adoptee, cancer survivor, and lifelong creative. My blog is a space where I share honest reflections, practical tips, and meaningful stories about healing, personal growth, wellness, and mindful living.
After undergoing chemotherapy in 2023, my path shifted. What began as a lifestyle and travel blog has evolved into something deeper — a place where resilience meets rest, and where survival blossoms into thriving. Whether you’re navigating illness, rediscovering your identity, or simply seeking a more intentional life, you’re welcome here.

Born in Seoul, South Korea, and raised in the Midwest, I’ve lived a lifetime in search of identity as a Korean American adoptee. From a young age, I found refuge and power in writing and poetry — eventually finding my voice through Spoken Word and the Performance Arts.
After studying at Oakwood University in Huntsville, AL, I began performing at venues like Atlanta’s Apache Café, Harlem’s Zebra Room at the historic Lenox Lounge, the Apollo Theater, Nuyorican Poets Café, Bowery Poetry Club, and others across the country. I’ve also appeared in New York indie films and continue to pursue writing for both the screen and the page. My work has been featured in news publications representing the Korean American adoptee experience.
In 2023, life handed me a challenge I never expected — a cancer diagnosis. Chemotherapy changed my body and mind, but it also deepened my capacity for compassion, patience, and purpose. Recovery has become a journey of its own — one that’s still unfolding.
Now, through Blogging for a Better Life, I’m sharing what I’ve learned about healing, strength, and self-care. You’ll find travel reflections, lifestyle content, wellness tips, and raw, honest stories from someone who knows what it means to rebuild.
This space is more than a blog — it’s a community, a journal, and a mirror for anyone seeking to live more fully.
