Yoo

Born in Seoul, South Korea and raised in the Midwest, AeKyung Yoo was exposed to a lifetime of searching as a Korean American adoptee. She developed an interest in writing and poetry from a young age but it was Spoken Word and the Performance Arts that stole her heart. After leaving Oakwood University in Huntsville, AL, she has performed at various spoken word venues such as the Apache Cafe in Atlanta, GA to the legendary Zebra Room inside Harlem’s former Lenox Lounge, the Apollo Theater, Nuyorican Poet’s Cafe, Bowery Poetry Club, and other various venues throughout the nation.

She’s been seen in various New York City indie films, and since then continues to focus on her writing in screenplays and the re-launching of her blog. Her work has also been published in various newsprints, also representing the Korean American adoptee community.

“Be yourself, dare to be different, have courage to step outside of your comfort zone to invite growth, change, and blessings into your life and into the lives of those around you. Do not settle for mediocre, because you are worth more than you believe that you are!” ~LADY SEOUL aka AeKyung Yoo “Speakin out News.” 2004
